DNA의 원하는 부분을 복제·증폭시키는 분자생물학적인 기술. 미량인 DNA 용액에서 원하는 특정 DNA 단편만을 선택적으로 증폭시킬 수 있다. 반응을 개시하는데 필요한 적절한 프라이머를 설계(Primer design)하는 일이 필요하다.
