통상적으로 언급하는 자폐증은 자폐 스펙트럼 장애(ASD, Autisum spectrum disorder)라고 불리우며, 3가지로 나뉜다.

1. Autism (Kanner's syndrome)
2. Asperger's syndrome
3. Savant syndrome (high functional autism)
